PRESS RELEASE Launch of GrootSchip 40 during Yacht Vision Boat Show in Lelystad
Zwolle, April 2008.
The newest in the line of GrootSchip Yachts, the GS40, will be launched during the forthcoming Yacht Vision Boat Show in Lelystad. The GS40 is a 12 m long, steel round-bilge yacht with open wheelhouse. The yacht has 2+2 berths, optionally in 2 cabins. The unique style of the GS40 is now also reflected in the interior design. The GS40 has been outfitted using bamboo, making GrootSchip the first company in the Netherlands to use bamboo for a ship interior. Contemporary and eye-catching, and above all a responsible choice. There is no need to fell trees and bamboo is fully grown again within approx. 3 years. In addition to which it is also extremely hard and wear resistant.
At the Yacht Vision Boat Show from 21-26 May 2008, GrootSchip will prove that sustainable enterprise in the Dutch yacht building industry most certainly can go hand in hand with good design, beauty and an eye for detail.

Boat Holland success and GS48 launch!
Zwolle, 16 February 2008
Lots of interested parties came to see the GS48 at the exhibition. This new ship really caught the eye of admirers of beauty on the waves. It was great to hear so many visitors in agreement with our basic design principles for introducing this ship to the market: its classically-modern design, an eye for detail and its sophisticated propulsion system: “Less is more”.
This also applies to the interior, to the delight of many. The bamboo, colour scheme and calming austere lines appealed to just about everyone.
The consistency of design between ‘interior’ and ‘exterior’ was a comment frequently heard during the exhibition. Our visitors had a keen eye for detail!
The GS48 was launched immediately after Boat Holland. An exciting moment indeed. How would it look in the water? What about its sailing qualities?
The GS48 performed according to all calculations and expectations; it was course-stable, responsive at the helm, nippy for a boat of its capacity and with a tight turning-circle. An absolute pleasure to sail in.
PRESS RELEASE
Bamboo and GrootSchip
Zwolle, 20 November 2007.
The style of the new line of GrootSchip yachts is now also reflected in the interiors. Last weekend at the pre-presentation of the GS40 and GS48 to interested parties, people were virtually unanimous in saying, “This looks good! But what is it, actually?”
It is bamboo, a new material in the world of Dutch ship interiors. A choice that is contemporary, attractive and above all environmentally responsible. No forests or jungles are cut down and the bamboo is fully grown again within about three years.
Moreover, bamboo is very tough and hard-wearing. It is the material of the future. Designers throughout the world have already discovered it. GrootSchip’s interior designer is now helping translate this concept to yacht construction. Because of his belief in sustainable business practices, Tjeerd A. Groot was soon convinced that this splendid and environmentally material was the right choice.
Wool felt has been used for the floors, a pure product and a purely Dutch one. The same applies for the other materials used in the interior: all 100% natural.
The GS48 will first be presented at Boot Holland in February 2008,
when we will be able to see how the concept of sustainable interior design has been translated even further to the interior as a whole.
